Hi!  I'm Qing Fan , the photographer behind Qingster Photography.

In 2016, I achieved a "Silver with Distinction" in the Creative Portrait category of the NZIPP Iris Awards and a "Silver Award" in the Iris Awards Classic Portrait category.

Prior to being a full time photographer, I was trained as a Visual Artist & Fashion Designer and graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in China, before running my own fashion studio in Beijing and Shanghai, using the "Qingster" label .

In 2012, my husband Stephen and I decided to change our busy big city lifestyle and move back to Stephen's native New Zealand. We have started to really enjoy the peaceful Wairarapa life and the warm countryside-style small community.

My previous Arts Training in the use of light and composition has helped me a great deal within the Photographic Industry. I'm specialising now in Wedding Photography and Commercial Photography.

I like to create stories from the images I work with and relate my projects' "real soul" to my camera. In Wedding events, I sometimes prefer to stay in the background and capture people's natural and relaxed moments, but I also know when to step in like a Director to get the required shots. And in my Portraiture work, I also combine these two approaches to guide the project into the story I'm imagining or the look my clients and I have imagined together.

I always have a Pre-shooting consultation before any shooting event, so let's meet (even just using Zoom if we have to) and get to know each other a little bit first, then we could start to talk about your favorite colours, different ideas and in what sort of style you would like to be photographed.
